Position Overview: As a Registered Nurse in our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective recovery of patients who have undergone surgical procedures. This role requires a caring and highly skilled nurse who can provide specialized care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will collaborate closely with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible post-operative outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery
- Administer medications and treatments as required to manage post-operative pain and ensure patient comfort
- Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient’s condition
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized post-operative care plans
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Participate in continuous education and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in post-anesthesia care
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) setting
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
