Our client located in Port Kembla is a manufacturer of high-quality structural steel maintenance and services. Some of their services are Structural metalwork, pipework, metal bending, project works and more. They are currently looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join their workshop-based team.

  • Monday to Friday 7am – 3:30pm
  • Pay: $50/hr – $52/hr + Super 
  • Potential for overtime work

About the Role:
We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitter for ongoing workshop-based work in Port Kembla. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and supportive team working on structural steel projects. You will be actively working in the workshop, dismantling and assembling equipment and carrying out repairs and maintenance on heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, fit and install structural steel components in a workshop environment
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, alignment and adjustment of steel structures and components
  • Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Perform basic maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on mechanical components
  • Assist with fabrication tasks including cutting, drilling, grinding, and measuring
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and project specifications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in line with WHS requirements
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, welders and other trades to meet project deadlines

Requirements:

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a workshop-based role, ideally within structural steel or heavy industry
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
  • Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices
  • High attention to detail and commitment to work
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
